gsd Großanlagen- und Schwermaschinenbau GmbH is part of the medium-sized, owner-operated tmGROUP, which is primarily active in the heavy steel construction, mechanical engineering and plant manufacturing industries.

At the Dessau-Roßlau and Schönebeck/Elbe sites in Saxony-Anhalt, around 380 qualified employees complete approximately 540,000 production hours a year in a multi-shift operation within 125,000 m² of production space, generating an annual turnover of around 80 million euros.

The companies in the group hold all the necessary current qualifications and licences (e.g. certification to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008, manufacturing qualification DIN 18800-7, etc.).

Our focus is on the manufacture of complex steel structures (with a unit weight of up to 80 metric tons) to customer requirements. Within the tmGROUP, our flexible single-order and series production covers the entire process chain (material procurement, steel structure manufacturing, mechanical processing, corrosion protection and final assembly).

As a manufacturer with a medium to long-term focus, we supply our customers with, among other things:

• Tubular steel towers (section weights up to 80 metric tons, diameter up to 6 m)

• Equipment for cement and industrial plant construction (rotary kilns, mills, cooling units)
• Mechanical machining (vertical turning, drilling and milling) including on flanges up to 6 m in diameter, mainframes and components up to 60 metric tons.
• Maintenance platforms and internal fittings for tubular steel towers
• Special chassis and components for environmental and agricultural applications

The tmGROUP is divided into manageable, independently operated companies.

gsd GmbH - gsd Großanlagen- und Schwermaschinenbau GmbH was founded in 1999. It currently employs 130 staff and plays a key role in the tmGROUP. On approximately 20,000 m² of indoor space and 15,000 m² of outdoor space, we process up to 50,000 t of heavy plate and 20,000 t of cast and forged parts every year. Based on the customer’s project planning and structural design, we offer the complete manufacture of major assemblies based on cylindrical or conical designs with an overall weight of 80 to 160 metric tons.

zsd GmbH - Mechanical processing (turning, drilling, milling) of steel structures with unit weights of up to 64 t and flanges of up to 6,000 mm in diameter.  With 30 employees and a lean organisational structure, the company has a production area of approx. 5,000 m² and a standard capacity of about 45,000 production hours.

smb GmbH - To expand our steel engineering capacities, this former tractor factory in Schönebeck/Elbe was taken over in March 2006.  Currently, smb-Stahlturmfertigung occupies an area of approximately 20,000 m² where around 100 employees put in 150,000 production hours every year. Operating within the tmGROUP, the sister companies gsd and smb complement each other in an almost symbiotic way in terms of manufacturing and can therefore be flexible enough to fulfil the requirements of our valued customers for their one-off orders or projects.

sfb GmbH - the two lines of business (heavy steel engineering and steel-tower construction / lighter and medium steel, component and chassis construction) of Schönebecker Maschinenbau, which was founded in March 2006, were separated in mid 2007 due to rapid growth. The steel, components and chassis construction division was hived off into the specially created sfb Schönebecker Fahrzeugbau GmbH on 1 July 2008. Around 100 employees currently put in approximately 150,000 production hours every year at sfb Schönebecker Fahrzeugbau GmbH, using modern machinery in a 19,000 m² production hall.
