Innovative technology, high reliability and good economic viability have characterised ENERCON wind turbines for more than 25 years. The German market leader has erected more than 19,000 turbines around the world with a total output of more than 26.2 gigawatts. (As of February 2012)
ENERCON has been one of the
technology leaders in the wind power sector for more than 25 years. As the first
manufacturer of wind turbines, the company used a gearless drive concept that is a characteristic of all
ENERCON wind turbines. ENERCON is also at the forefront in other areas, such as
rotor blade design, control technology, grid connection technology, and, with
its wide range of technological new developments, proves its innovative
strength time and again.
Continual research and
development are guarantees of the ongoing success of the company. The same
applies to production and service. All the key components, such as the rotor,
annular generators and grid feeding system, are manufactured in-house. This
vertical integration, which is unequalled in the wind sector, ensures the high
quality and extreme reliability of ENERCON wind turbines. A customer-oriented
service offering also plays a part in this, guaranteeing the operator 97%
technical availability of the turbines. This holistic concept sets high new
standards in technology, quality and safety and consolidates ENERCON’s position
as the German market leader.
The product portfolio
comprises wind turbines with outputs from 330 to 7,500 kilowatts. The newest
model is the E-101/3 MW with a rotor diameter of 101 metres. Water cooling,
rotor blade heating, high efficiency and improved maintainability are among the
particular features of this wind class IIA turbine, which is available with hub
heights of up to 135 metres to begin with. The most powerful wind turbine is the
E-126/7.5 MW. All ENERCON models boast reliable technology, low maintenance
requirements and a long service life, thereby guaranteeing a high level of
profitability for customers.
ENERCON wind turbines
supply numerous features that support the grid. Thanks to the directly driven
synchronous generator and innovative modular full-scale converter concept,
ENERCON wind turbines have a wide range of technical options for adaptation to
the grid conditions. They have a grid feeding system that is certified to the latest
grid connection requirements. ENERCON wind turbines can therefore be integrated
without difficulty into all supply and distribution grid structures.
True to the company’s claim
of “energy for the world”, ENERCON is driving forward supply with renewable
energies worldwide. In doing so ENERCON is expanding its research and
development, production and sales activities in line with demand.
Internationally, ENERCON has a presence in the major markets with factories in
Brazil, Sweden, Turkey, Portugal and Canada, as well as a global decentralised
service and sales network. With production facilities for generators, rotor
blades, grid connection systems, tubular steel towers and precast concrete
towers as well as its own foundry, ENERCON already owns production space
totalling more than 684,000 square metres. To meet market requirements, ENERCON
is investing in new production facilities in line with demand. Among others, in
2012 new rotor blade factories are being opened in Haren/Ems and in Aurich in
Germany, while new factories for precast concrete towers are being commissioned
in France and Austria.
A prudent and sustainable
growth strategy guarantees the company’s financial stability, which was
recently confirmed by the rating agency Euler Hermes GmbH: The reliability and
sustainability of the ENERCON Group was given an AA- rating, meaning that it is
“significantly above average” compared to the economy as a whole. ENERCON
customers can therefore rely on a high level of investment security, in
addition to high quality and reliable turbine technology.
