Essent Wind is a business unit of Essent N.V., the largest energy company of the Netherlands with an annual turnover of EUR 9 billion in 2008 and approx. 5,000 employees. Wind power belongs to the strategic core business fields of Essent and will be continuously developed. Essent engages itself on a long-term basis - from location scouting over planning, building and operation up to financing of on- and offshore wind farms. With an installed capacity of 635 MW Essent Wind is one of the largest wind power companies in Northwestern Europe. In Germany and the Netherlands the company currently has more than 50 wind farms. Apart from the development of several onshore projects Essent Wind has worked on the development of the offshore project „Nordsee-Ost “ which will be located north of Helgoland. In Eemshaven (Netherlands) Essent has replaced 132 wind turbines with 52 modern turbines which have an installed capacity of about 156 MW (approx. 470 GWh).
