With more than 20 years of experience KTR are well-known as pioneers for drive technology in wind turbines and the world’s leading suppliers of components or systems, respectively. This is not limited to couplings only, but includes further product ranges such as hydraulic components and high-power cooling systems. In addition, KTR presents the new hydraulic brake for wind power technology in 2011.

We have developed our steel lamina coupling RADEX®-N specifically for wind turbines: The backlash-free and maintenance-free all-steel coupling made of highly stiff spring steel compensates for high misalignment with low restoring forces due to the special shape of the laminae. Here a particularly designed GFK spacer serves for the electric insulation of the coupling.

For more than 6 years, KTR have supplied brake systems to certain markets. In 2011 KTR is reinventing the brake. The hydraulic brake ‘KTR-STOP’ with improved performance data and optimised wear behaviour offers considerable advantages compared to conventional systems. KTR supplies the complete sub system consisting of coupling, brake and high-performance cooling systems to the wind power industry.

With the constant increase in power of the wind turbines, the demands on thermo management are becoming higher: The heat produced by generators, frequency converters and gearboxes needs to be dissipated properly. Based on our experience in hydraulics and cooling we have developed special cooling power packs that have a cooling power up to 110 kW. With special modifications equipment these power packs are also suitable for offshore applications. Cooling systems manufactured by KTR are adapted to the demands of individual wind turbines and can accommodate all dimensional and performance requirements.
