Moventas continuously develop our gearboxes in co-operation with and in response to our customer requirements. Increased reliability, efficiency and value for money are key to this process. In Jyväskylä (Fin) and in Wuppertal (D) we operate our service centers. As Moventas has been designing, testing and manufacturing its own wind turbine gearboxes for over thirty years we are able to bring our expertise and manufacturing knowledge to the service, overhaul and upgrade of our own gearboxes and those manufactured by other companies.

Replacement Gearboxes
Moventas provides a wide range of newly manufactured or refurbished replacement gearboxes for many different turbine types and models irrespective of the original manufacturer. Gearboxes can be provided in their raw state or fully accessorised (“plug & play”). They are available directly to turbine owners, operations and maintenance companies.
Pooling
Gearbox Pooling and localised storage service provides the customer with instant access to the gearbox they require, thus minimising downtime from unplanned maintenance and enabling precisely timed planned maintenance. Where suitable a rotational gearbox pool for overhauls or for replacements can be devised to meet customer specific requirements.
Factory Service
Moventas provides regular service, overhaul and upgrades to wind turbine gearboxes of our own production and those manufactured by other companies. All gearboxes whether newly manufactured or serviced undergo a full load test as specified by the wind turbine OEM, thus ensuring total compliance to quality standards. Our main European service centres are in Jyväskylä, Finland and in Wuppertal, Germany.
Upgrades
Moventas are able to offer upgrades to gearboxes of our own production and gearboxes manufactured by other companies. By using newer state of the art components, materials and manufacturing techniques Moventas can increase the reliability, performance and efficiency of the gearbox.
On Site Services
This includes:
- Drive-train Preventative Maintenance and End of Warranty Inspections that includes: full endoscope inspection, oil sampling and analysis, vibration analysis for the main bearing, gearbox and generator. All inspections are followed up with in depth analysis, reports conclusions and corrective action recommendations.
- Bearing and shaft replacement.
- For GE 1,5MW turbines, Moventas now offer up-tower full helical stage repair (HS, LS, IS). Previously a repair of this magnitude would have required the gearbox to be removed from the nacelle and the work carried out in a workshop. In this case the savings in time and costs is very significant.
Condition Monitoring/Management
Moventas CMaS is the most powerful tool in the preventative maintenance toolbox. CMaS from Moventas can be retrofitted to all existing gearbox types in the nacelle. CMaS monitors the drive train condition 24/7/365. CMaS monitors key parameters including: oil quality, particle count, pressures and temperatures; bearing temperatures; HS RPM and vibration frequencies in the gearbox; main bearing and generator.
Tests, analyses and audits
Moventas delivers inspection reports including running conditions, test results and analysis with clear recommendations and actions.
Spare Parts
We offer genuine spare parts for all Moventas, Metso and Valmet gearboxes. Approved accessories including couplings, coolers, shrink disks, complete brake systems, offline filter systems and filter cartridges also form part of our offering.
