  • Description

Be consistent.

Thousands of pitch systems worldwide, self-developed switch and control cabinets or on-and offshore solutions for WTGs: Just a few highlights from over 20 years of experience in the wind energy sector.

Our experience – Momentum for your success.

As a pioneer in wind energy, we have been developing drive and control systems for WTGs since 1990. In the process, we have become a system partner for numerous WTG manufacturers and have gained a great deal of experience in all aspects of wind energy. In addition to our experience, you also benefit from the innovations of the Emerson Group. This will open up completely new opportunities for you and for us. For example, in the further development of products which will increase both the availability and the economic efficiency of WTGs.

Everything under perfect control:
Our pitch systems.

From pitch drives to Multi Pitch Controller (MPC), our drive controller for electrical blade pitching – our range of products is as comprehensive as a pitch system. Not only do we consider pitch systems as a whole but we also develop and build them. This level of hands-on knowledge guarantees the highest quality and availability of your pitch systems, all of which are custom developed on the basis of our tested, standardized modular system. From AC and DC drives that are precisely developed and built according to customer requirements, to the design and building of axis and control cabinets, including assembly and cabling. Although every solutions is unique, they all share one thing in common: All our pitch systems are designed with triple redundancy and can be used as a primary brake without any compromises. This applies to every single one of the thousands of pitch systems already in use around the world.

Where ideas have space:
Switch and control cabinets.

Job order production or individually planned, built and developed: Axis and central pitch controller cabinets, top and tower boxes, as well as special solutions such as portable hub simulation boxes and customer-specific solutions are manufactured in continuous production at our more than 15.000 m² production site.

Always open for the open seas:
Our offshore solutions.

We have been working offshore since 2001. Our first project was the equipping of a turbine off the coast of Sweden. In the same year we developed the pitch system for what was then the largest wind turbine in the world, put into operation in 2002 in the rough waters of the Irish Sea. Today, almost 10 years later, we deliver switch and control cabinets as well as pitch systems with an output range from 5 to 10 MW. For offshore turbines in Europe, Asia or elsewhere in the world: All our solutions have been specially designed for offshore use – e.g., electronically with the integration of additional sensors or mechanically by implementing specially selected stainless steels and support structures. What’s more, every component we produce is rigorously tested under typical sea conditions.

It’s not just a question of your WTG, it’s also about you:
Our services

We don’t just develop and build pitch systems. We maintain them too. In that respect, we are always at your side as a highly competent partner – at startup and, of course, over the long term. Our service teams are an integral part of our service department and are always available to support you with commissioning and on-site services. Additionally, we offer spare parts procurement for all systems we deliver over the entire 20-year lifecycle of your WTG. And finally, our service offer includes the training of your service technicians and installers.

Our experience – Tailwind for your success. SSB Wind Systems offers solutions for pitch systems, switch and control cabinets, on- and offshore solutions, research and development.

In the process, we have become a system partner for numerous WTG manufacturers and have gained a great deal of experience in all aspects of wind energy. As a division of Emerson, one of the world market leaders in industrial automation, we will continue resolutely on our path. This will open up completely new opportunities for you and for us. Not only do we consider pitch systems as a whole but we also develop and build them. This level of hands-on production know-how guarantees the highest quality and availability of pitch systems for both AC and DC drives. We construct and manufacture them ourselves based on different requirements for performance, size and design. This gives rise to customized solutions, which nevertheless have one thing in common: All of our pitch systems are designed with triple redundancy and can be used as a primary brake without any compromises. Proven by more than 16,000 pitch systems worldwide.
