TimberTower specialises in the development, manufacture, assembly and sale of timber towers and foundations for wind energy plants.
Wooden
towers for multi-megawatt wind turbines – efficiency through ecology
We are the
first company worldwide to use wood for the construction of towers. Wood is an
ecological masterpiece and efficient high-tech material, so this is a truly future-oriented
concept.
In the
context of renewable energies we therefore exceed expectations as far as efficiency and ecology are
concerned. Our TimberTower responds to the challenge of climate change now and
in future. Its advantages: consistently sustainable and low carbon, cost-efficient
and, on account of its construction, ready to be shipped to anywhere in the
world.
The TimberTower
– construction and function
Timber has
long been the primary material for the construction of wind turbines. It was
not until the first half of the 20th century that it was gradually
replaced by steel. Today wood is insignificant as far as the production of wind
turbines is concerned. The market introduction of the TimberTower is set to
change this.

Product
development is based on our patented know-how of structural development, as
well as our knowledge of tower production technology and the use of towers for
wind turbines.
The
TimberTower is a compound system constructed from plywood sheets and surface
components that are assembled on site to form a hexagonal, octagonal or
dodecadonal closed hollow body (foot: 7 x 7 metres in diameter, top: 2.4 x 2.4
m). Hub heights of up to 200 m are economically feasible. The TimberTower can
be erected nearly anywhere in the world because it is transported in 40 ft
containers.
The wooden
and surface elements used in construction are manufactured by international partners
from Germany and Austria that
are market leaders in their fields. Our suppliers are PEFC certified, which
guarantees that all materials are sourced from ecologically, economically and
socially responsible forestry.

From its
initial development we have made sure that the TimberTower meets all standard
requirements with respect to insurability, certification and fire regulations.
