With the world’s largest market share in the wind energy sector and state-of-the-art technology, Vestas is a leading supplier of wind energy solutions. Our core business includes the development, production, sale, marketing and maintenance of wind power plants that convert wind energy into electrical power.
Vestas wind power plants are playing their part in the global struggle against climate change by generating clean energy every day. Thanks to the power produced by more than 46,000 Vestas wind turbines, carbon dioxide emissions around the world are being reduced by more than 50 million metric tons per annum. At the same time, the security and independence of energy supply are being increased.
Vestas can rely on more than 30 years of technological innovation and experience in the development, manufacture, installation and maintenance of the best wind power plants in the world. Vestas is a pioneer in the wind sector and began manufacturing wind turbines in 1979. Since 1987 the company has concentrated exclusively on wind energy.
Today, Vestas has a presence in 69 countries and employs more than 20,000 dedicated staff at service and project sites, in research facilities, factories and offices.
25 years of Vestas in Germany
Vestas has been represented in Germany since 1985. Vestas Central Europe is responsible for the sales, marketing, construction and servicing of wind turbines in Germany, Austria, Russia, Eastern Europe, South Africa and East Africa. It is headquartered in Husum.
As well as the sales branches in Hamburg, Osnabrück, Nuremberg and Berlin, there are three production facilities in Germany – a blade factory in Lauchhammer, a generator factory in Lübeck and a foundry in Magdeburg. There is also a branch of the research and development division in Dortmund.
All in all Vestas employs around 2,100 people in Germany. To date, the company has erected over 6,000 wind turbines in Germany, which together generate more than 7,700 MW of electrical power every year.
Innovation and technology leader
Vestas invests continually in research and development. The development of competitive wind power plants, transport solutions and control systems has top priority. The aim is to develop the optimum system for each site, be it onshore or offshore.
Our focus on research and development has meant that today we are able to develop wind power plants that are a hundred times more efficient than they were 25 years ago. As a result, the 46,000-plus Vestas wind turbines around the world generate over 95 million MWh per annum - enough power to supply every household in a country of 45 million inhabitants, such as Spain.
Innovation makes wind more cost-effective
Vestas’ focus on constant technological advancement increases the productivity of wind turbines and, at the same time, reduces energy costs. That means outstanding cost-effectiveness and a high return on investment for Vestas’ customers.
The V112-3.0 MW wind turbine is testament to our company’s tremendous innovative strength. It can generate a higher yield than all the other turbines in the 3 MW class.
With the V112-3.0 MW, Vestas underlines its ambition to offer wind power solutions that can be used around the world. The V112-3.0 MW is a wind turbine that can be employed for more efficiency in a wide variety of low and medium wind-speed sites all over the world.
The turbine is designed to be easier to transport, install and maintain. The new blades, innovative nacelle design and environmentally friendly cooling system guarantee reduced-load operation, while the new GridStreamer technology ensures a stable and adjustable output from the wind turbine that meets the strictest requirements for grid connection.
